Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Softball (4-2) split a double header against Randolph College (2-2) on Saturday afternoon. Game one went the Pride's way by the score of 5-1, while the Wildcats took game two by the same score.
Game One:
Lauren Engel got the start in the circle for Greensboro and once again threw a gem. Engel went all seven innings and gave up just three hits. She also struck out six Randolph College hitters.
Anna Frazier knocked in the first run of the game in the first inning on an RBI groundout, and later
Kelsey Craven drove home a run on a sacrifice fly to left field.Â
Freshman
Rigdon Lambeth drove home
Ivy Ray in the second inning after Ray hit a leadoff triple to give Greensboro a 3-0 lead.
Makyiah Simmons hit a two RBI single in the third inning to stretch the lead to 5-0. The Wildcats scored their lone run in the fourth frame, but that was all they could get off of Engel, who earned her second win of the season.
Game Two:
Game two saw the exact opposite of what happened in game one, as the Wildcats' Emily Morris dominated in the circle, going all seven innings to get the win. She only had one strikeout, but the Pride bats couldn't get much going in game two.Â
Madison Dillner had three hits in the game including driving in the only run for Greensboro. The team totaled six hits and no walks.
Raina Hampel got the start in the circle for the Pride, going 1.2 innings and giving up three runs. Freshman
Katherine Charlton came in from the bullpen and went the rest of the game, giving up two runs in 5.1 innings.
Greensboro travels to Ferrum College on March 5th for a double header. Game one begins at 1:00 pm.
