Greensboro, NC - It was a wild night inside Hanes Gymnasium as the Greensboro Men's Basketball team (10-12, 6-5) fell to Brevard College (12-10, 7-4) on a last second foul call and three free throws by the Tornados' Quincy Carter, 67-66. The Pride led by 2 points before a foul call allowed Carter to shoot three free throws to win the game for Brevard.
It was an electric game from start to finish, as Brevard led for most of the first half. However Greensboro would come back in the second half, and both teams traded buckets until the very end.
Isaiah Pruett led the way for the Pride, scoring 19 points and dominating the second half.
Matthew Brown had a great second half as well, as he hit a jumper that gave Greensboro the lead with 0.7 seconds remaining. On the ensuing inbound, Quincy Carter got the ball and shot a contested three point shot, but was fouled right before time expired. Carter made all three free throws to win the game for the Tornados.
With the loss, Greensboro falls one game back of Brevard in the USA South standings. They currently sit 5th place, tied with William Peace and one game back of Brevard and NC Wesleyan for 2nd place.
This Saturday the Pride head to NC Wesleyan for a battle with the Bishops. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
