Greensboro, NC - It was Play 4 Kay Night for the Greensboro Women's Basketball team (6-16, 6-9) on Tuesday as they hosted Brevard College (15-6, 10-5). Brevard came out with the victory, 61-50 in what was an exciting game throughout.
Samiah Mitchell led the Pride with 14 points, while
Tamera Hooker scored 11, all in the second half. Brevard led 15-13 after the first quarter but then outscored Greensboro 16-10 in the second to take an 8 point lead into halftime.
For the Tornados, Naliyah Boyce led the team with 25 points. She dominated most of the game as she shot 12-19 from the floor. Jada Petty-Wilkins scored 11 points and had 5 rebounds.
In the second half, the Pride stormed back to within 1 point on multiple occasions. However, turnovers hurt them, as they had 17 turnovers on the game.
Tamera Hooker took over the second half as she hit 1 three pointer and made all 5 of her shots from the floor in the second half.Â
Later in the fourth quarter, Brevard was able to pull away to finish off Greensboro. They totaled 30 points in the paint, and had 13 fast break points. The Pride had 20 points in the paint and 16 points off Brevard turnovers. They shot 38% from the floor.
Greensboro will travel to Pfeiffer University on Saturday, as they look to defeat the Falcons for the second time this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
