Greensboro, NC - It was a great Opening Day for the 2024 Greensboro Baseball team, as the Pride were victorious over Lycoming College on Friday afternoon, 9-5.
Chris Le and
Adam Weber led the offense with 3 hits each.
The Pride got on the board first when Le scored on a sacrifice fly by
Brody Gardner in the 1st inning. Greensboro got two runs in the 2nd inning on a
Louis Berini RBI single and a Le RBI single.Â
Lycoming answered back with a run of their own in the third when Evan Mok hit a solo homer to left field. Mok would go 3-4 on the contest with two runs scored. With the score 3-2 on favor of the Pride, Le would double home Berini to make it a 4-2 Greensboro lead.
Lycoming didn't go away, as they eventually took a 5-4 lead in the 6th when Mok drove home a run on an RBI single. That would be the only lead for Lycoming, however, as the Pride came back with three runs in the bottom of the 6th, and then added another run in the 7th inning to make the score 9-5.
Stephen Dunlow entered the game on the mound in the 8th inning and worked out of trouble to seal the win for Greensboro. Dunlow struck out three batters in 2 innings of work.Â
Aaron McInvale got the start for the Pride on the bump. McInvale went 4.1 innings, giving up four hits, four earned runs, walking three, and punching out five Lycoming batters.
Mo Lopez got the win out of the bullpen. Lopez went 2.2 innings and struck out five.
The teams will go at it again in game two on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM at Ted Leonard Park.
