Rocky Mount, NC - The Greensboro Women's Basketball team (7-17, 7-10) traveled NC Wesleyan (13-11, 13-4) on Wednesday night in what was their next to last regular season game of the season. The Pride fell 96-47 despite getting a strong 14 point, 7 rebound performance from
Kensie Harris.
Three Greensboro players scored in double figures, including Harris,
Samiah Mitchell (10 points), and
Tamera Hooker (10 points).
Azuria Barrino had 10 rebounds on the contest.Â
The Pride fell behind 24-7 after the first quarter as they struggled to contain the Bishops' Kayrisma Harrison and Harmony Martin. Harrison scored 18 points on the night while Martin scored 16. Harrison finished with a double-double by totaling 11 rebounds.
Greensboro was more competitive in the second quarter, scoring 17 points. However, they were outscored 36-9 in the third quarter as the game got out of hand. The Pride defense did come up with 7 steals while totaling 36 rebounds as a team.
Freshman
Taya Phelps scored 7 points for Greensboro in 26 minutes of action. This was just 2 points shy of her season high of 9 points set back on January 6th.
This Saturday, the Pride will celebrate their lone senior on the team,
Nataya Atwater, on Senior Day. Senior recognition will begin at 1:45 followed by the team's final regular season game against Southern Virginia at 2:00 PM.
