Greensboro, NC - It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Pride Field as the Greensboro Men's Lacrosse team (1-0) took down Montreat College (0-2), 20-11. The duo of
William Beyer and
Justin Barry scored 5 goals each in the victory.
The Pride started out hot as they scored the first 2 goals of the game. Barry and
Jameson Doll scored the opening goals for Greensboro before the Cavaliers answered back with 2 goals of their own soon after. The Pride would then score 5 straight goals to stretch the lead to 7-2. At the end of the first quarter, Greensboro led 9-3.
Midway through the second quarter, Barry would score his 5th and final goal of the game to give Greensboro a 10-3 lead. The Pride took a 14-6 lead into the halftime break as Montreat could do nothing to stop the Pride offense.
The Pride scored 3 goals in the third period and the teams would score 3 goals each in the fourth quarter as Greensboro completed their 20-11 victory.
Jameson Doll scored 4 goals, Alex Matoon scored 3 goals, and
Leo Ringelberg and
Chase Henderson scored 1 goal each.
The Pride had 50 shots and 34 shots on goal. Goalie
Edward Rowley had 16 saves, and
Chase Henderson won 16 of 27 face offs.
Greensboro will play again on February 16th when they travel to Averett University. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
