Danville, VA - The Greensboro Men's Lacrosse team (2-0) kept their hot start to the season going by defeating Averett University (0-3), 14-1 on Friday night.
William Beyer scored 6 goals on the night to lead the Pride to victory.
It was all Greensboro in this one, as the Pride took charge from the start. Beyer scored the first goal of the game just over two minutes in off an assist from
Justin Barry. Reigning USA South Rookie of the Week,
Jameson Doll, scored the second goal of the night with 6:51 left in the first quarter. After this goal, the floodgates opened and Greensboro ran off three more goals before the end the quarter.
Beyer scored the opening goal of the second period as well by an assist from Doll. He then scored the next three goals for the Pride to make it 9-0. Averett finally got on the board in the third quarter when Emmett Wood put one in the net. Beyer then quickly responded with his 8th goal of the season to make the score 10-1.
Alex Mattoon scored the next two goals for the Pride, followed by a goal from
Justin Barry. Greensboro added one more goal in the final quarter. The Pride had 45 shots compared to Averett's 11. The Pride had 41 ground balls, while the Cougars had 33.Â
Up next, Greensboro travels to cross town rival Guilford College on February 21st. Game time is set for 5:00 PM.
