Greensboro, NC - It was an exciting night for volleyball inside Hanes Gymnasium as the Greensboro volleyball team defeated Meredith for the second time this season, 3-2, to finish the regular season.
The Pride got out to a strong start, beating the Avenging Angels 25-18 in set number one. After the first set, both teams battled for each point in an exciting back-and-forth match. In the second set, Meredith got the win 26-24 to tie the match 1-1.
They then took a 2-1 lead in the match after a 25-21 victory in the third set and took all of the momentum. Meredith scored the first three points of the fourth set, and later took a 5-2 lead. Greensboro clawed their way back, taking a 13-10 lead midway through. Meredith tied the set 16-16, and later took a 20-19 lead. The Pride didn't go down quietly, as they took momentum back by scoring four straight points. They then scored the final two points to win and force a decisive fifth set.
It was all Greensboro in set number five, as
Taylor Cotie led the way and helped the Pride get their 20th win of the season. Cotie tied a career high in blocks with 7 to go along with 11 kills.

Jaylyn Templeton had 46 assists on the night while
Morgan Mayfield had 37 digs. Templeton had 19 digs while
Grace Young had 16. As a team, Greensboro had 15 blocks on the night, which ties a season high.
Greensboro will host Meredith again on Tuesday in the USA South quarterfinals inside Hanes Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
