Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro College women's basketball team faced a tough opponent Tuesday night, as they were defeated by the No. 9 ranked Christopher Newport University Captains, 86-28. Christopher Newport, one of the top teams in Division III, showcased their dominance with an all-around team effort.
From the opening tip, the Captains set the tone with aggressive defense and fast breaks, building a commanding lead early. Despite their strong effort, Greensboro struggled to keep pace with the Captains' depth and intensity. Christopher Newport didn't have any players in double figures but proved their strength as a team, with 11 players contributing 5 or more points. Their balanced scoring attack and relentless defense made it difficult for the Pride to find their rhythm.
The Pride's Jasmine Mitchell was the bright spot for Greensboro, leading all scorers with 10 points and adding 7 rebounds. Mitchell's performance stood out, showing her determination on both ends of the floor despite the challenge.
While the outcome was not in the Pride's favor, Greensboro will look to rebound in their next contest against Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia, on December 1st. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM.
