Raleigh, NC - The Greensboro men's and women's swim teams competed at the Pacer Invitational over the weekend as the women had their best performances of the season.
Omega Pinnix broke the women's 200 yard freestyle record previously held by Regina Robertson by swimming a 1:57.69. She also swam the second fastest times in program history in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 yard backstroke. Pinnix finished second overall in the 50 free, 1st in the 100 yard backstroke, and 2nd in the 100 free.
Kilee Kemp also had a great day, earning top 10 program records in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events, as well as the 400 IM. Kemp swam a 1:07.04 in the 100 backstroke event and a 2:22.63 in the 200 yard backstroke. In the 400 yard IM, Kemp swam a time of 5:16.90.
In the 200 yard medley relay, the Greensboro women led by Kemp,
Gabrielle Hunker,
Allysia Alfred, and Pinnix finished 7th with a time of 2:02.56. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the same group swam a 1:48.85.Â
For the men,
Devin Caldwell swam a 1:14.08 in the 100 yard butterfly, while
Jarrett Hunker swam a 2:10.40 in the 200 yard freestyle.
Head coach
Korey McCulley said after the meet, "We swam lights out! I'm so proud of the group and their results from this competition. Almost every single swim was either a lifetime best time or a seasonal best time. The team dynamic was rock solid and everyone performed very well. Our women's relays were the most competitive they have been all season and looked amazing.Â
Greensboro swims again on January 18th, when they host Hollins University inside the Reynolds Center.
