Skinner's Hat Trick Propels Pride to Semifinals

Greensboro, NC - In what was a career best performance, Greensboro women's soccer senior Amery Skinner completed a hat trick and helped lead the Pride to a 4-0 victory over NC Wesleyan in the USA South Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday.

Skinner's 3 goal match tied a career high in goals scored, as she scored 3 goals as a member of the Catawba Indians on October 16th, 2021. She now has 15 goals on the season, surpassing her 13 goals from 2023. Skinner's first goal of the game came in the 37th minute, when she broke through the defensive back line after a pass from Skyler Molnar and hammered one into the net for the 1-0 lead.

In the 50th minute, Skinner scored the second goal on a penalty kick to put Greensboro ahead 2-0. After an own goal by NC Wesleyan put the Pride ahead 3-0, Skinner hit another penalty kick to complete the hat trick in the 81st minute.

Greensboro out-shot the Bishops 12-3 as the Pride defense played outstanding throughout the match. Goalie Lindsay Fox was credited with the win, which is her 11th of the season.

Greensboro will now travel to Methodist on November 6th for the semifinals match against the Monarchs. In their most previous match-up, Methodist defeated Greensboro 2-0 on September 24th. Start time for Wednesday's match is set for 6:00 pm.
