Fayetteville, NC - Greensboro women's soccer played in the USA South Conference semi-finals against Methodist on Wednesday night, and fell 2-0 as their season comes to an end.
It was strong season for Greensboro, winning 11 games and going 7-2 in conference play. Senior
Amery Skinner was named USA South Player of the Year earlier in the week, along with earning first team all-conference honors. The Pride had a total of four players named to the USA South all-conference first or second team.
Greensboro was on a seven game win streak heading into the semi-finals match, but the Monarchs got on the board early in this one and were able to keep the Pride out of the net despite a few opportunities. Methodist added an insurance goal in the 76th minute to go up 2-0.
Despite the loss, Greensboro won at least 10 games for the second straight season along with reaching the conference semi-finals for the third straight year. Their 7 wins in conference play was their most since 2018.Â
Skinner led the team in goals this season with 15, including her second career hat trick against Salem on October 30th. Freshmen
Emily Walsh and
Shae Brennan scored 5 goals each in their rookie campaigns. Walsh also led the team in assists with 6. Senior goalie
Lindsay Fox led the USA South with 82 saves in the regular season.
