Staunton, VA - A three goal day was enough for the Greensboro women's soccer team on Tuesday, as they took down Mary Baldwin 3-1 for their second USA South Conference win of the season.
The Pride got a big performance from freshman
Shae Brennan, as she scored two of the three Greensboro goals. With the Pride down 1-0, Brennan scored her first goal in the 43rd minute unassisted. Fellow freshman
Emily Walsh scored her third goal of the year in the 53rd minute off an assist by
Amery Skinner to take the lead 2-1.
Just two minutes later, Brennan put one in the back of the net for her second goal of the game from an assist by
Allison Mann to extend the lead to 3-1. The Pride dominated the game offensively, getting 21 shots compared to just 5 for the Fighting Squirrels.
Goalie
Lindsay Fox had 3 saves on the day, lifting her season total to 65. Greensboro also had 8 corner kicks on the contest.
Head coach
Mike Johnston stated after the game, "I'm proud of our resilience tonight. We gave up a goal against the run of play early and never lost our composure. We had three quality finishes, and I'm proud of our effort and earning three points on the road. Offensively we are combining much better and I thought our energy was great tonight."
Greensboro will host William Peace this Saturday for senior day. Kick-off is set for 2:00, while the senior day recognition will be at 1:40.
