Fayetteville, NC - In a five set classic, Greensboro volleyball fell 3-2 to Methodist on the road Saturday afternoon.
In the first set, the Pride found themselves down 24-21 before scoring 5 straight points to win the set 26-24. The tides turned in set two, as Greensboro led 24-23 when Methodist finished off the set with 3 straight points to win 26-24.
The Pride came out and dominated the third set 25-16 to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Once again, the Monarchs responded and won the fourth set 25-17 to force a fifth set. The teams went back-and-forth in the final set as they traded points with the set coming down to the wire. With the score 14-14, Methodist would get a kill and an ace to finish off the set and defeat the Pride.
Greensboro got a big performance from senior
Krista Brantley, as she had a team high 15 kills.
Kelci Brooks had 13 kills, while
Taylor Cotie had 12.
Karla del Castillo had a season high 4 block assists and had 7 kills of her own.
Morgan Mayfield finished the match with 39 digs while
Grace Young had a season high 19 digs.
Jaylyn Templeton had 51 assists, just two off her season high of 53.
Next up for the Pride is a road match at Brevard on Tuesday. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
