Brevard, NC - The Greensboro football team took on USA South rival Brevard on Saturday night and fell 42-9.
A slow start doomed the Pride as they gave up 28 first quarter points. The Tornados scored on each of their four possessions in the first quarter to jump out to a 28-0 lead. The Pride got on the board early in the second quarter on a
Thomas Chapman 21 yard field goal.
Brevard stretched the lead to 35-3 on a 16 yard touchdown run with 9:17 to go in the second quarter. Neither team scored in the third quarter, while both teams would score a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
For the Pride,
Jayden Morrison led the team in passing, going 8-18 for 55 yards. On the ground,
Jaquavius Weldon had 8 carries for 29 yards while Tareek Smtih had 9 carries for 26 yards.
Ja'Shawn Harris had 4 receptions to lead Greensboro receivers for 33 yards.
Coy Davis had 3 catches for 47 yards. Defensively,
Ziere Ray led the team in tackles with 9.
Will Pailthorpe had 8 tackles, as did
JaJuan Givens. Ray also had 1.5 sacks.
Greensboro is back at Pride Field this Saturday when they host Belhaven. Kick-off is set for 12:00 pm.
