Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Defeated 62-59 by William Peace

Raleigh, NC - It was an exciting game inside the Hermann Student Center at William Peace University, as the Greensboro Men's Basketball team (4-8, 0-1) took on the Pacers (6-7, 1-1) and were defeated 62-59.

It was a back-and-forth game throughout, as there were a total of 9 ties and 10 lead changes. The Pride led 22-20 after the first half. The Pride shot 45% in the half while William Peace shot just 23%. However, the Pacers shot 7-10 from the free throw line in the first half to keep them in the game.

The free throw line would be a big story in this one, as William Peace went 18-25 from the charity stripe while Greensboro went 9-10. Despite shooting 90% from the line, Greensboro shot far less free throws than the Pacers in this one.

Points off turnovers would be another big part of the contest, as William Peace scored 21 points off Greensboro turnovers while the Pride had just 8. Greensboro's bench played well, scoring 16 points.

The game came down to the final seconds, as the game was tied at 59 with 33 seconds left. William Peace would hit 2 free throws to take the lead, and then Javion Majette got the final shot for Greensboro. Majette's potential game winning three-point shot fell short and the Pacers secured the final rebound to seal the win.

Matthew Brown and Isaiah Pruett scored 14 points each. Pruett came through with 5 assists while Brown had 3 steals. Erik Alvey had 10 points and 4 rebounds.

Greensboro will hit the court again on Janaury 9th when they host Southern Virginia inside Hanes Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
