Brown Scores 21 in Pride's Road Victory at Southern Virginia

Buena Vista, VA - The Greensboro Men's Basketball team (10-10, 6-3) went on the road to Southern Virginia University (5-16, 2-7) and got another big USA South win, 65-60. Matthew Brown scored a game high 21 points on 9-13 shooting from the field.

The Pride controlled the game almost the entire way. Their largest lead came early in the second half, when they extended the advantage to 13 points. However for most of the game, the lead remained in single digits as both teams traded buckets.

The Pride defense played well, holding the Knights to 60 points. Koa baker, the USA South's leading scorer at 18.3 points per game, scored 20 points on the night. Baker scored most of his points in the first half, as the Pride defense shut Baker down in half number two. 

Javion Majette had a big game, scoring 16 points, which is one point shy of his season high of 17 points against Carolina University earlier in the season. Majette added 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Tim Boulware came through with 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Isaiah Pruett scored 7 points.

Greensboro only turned the ball over 5 times all game. The Pride also shot well from the free throw line, going 14-18. Overall the team shot 48% from the floor. 

With the win tonight, Greensboro sits 2nd place in the USA South Conference standings, one-half game behind Mary Baldwin. 

This Saturday, the Pride will host William Peace University at 2:00 PM inside Hanes Gymnasium.
