Greensboro, NC - It was a great Tuesday night for the Greensboro Women's Basketball team (3-14, 3-7) as they defeated USA South rival Pfeiffer (4-12, 3-8) 67-61 inside Hanes Gymnasium.
Kensie Harris dominated by scoring a career high 22 points on 11-16 shooting.
The Pride led for much of the game, as three Greensboro players scored in double figures.
Samiah Mitchell (16 points) and
Azuria Barrino (14 points) came through big for the Pride in the win. Mitchell had an incredible buzzer beating three pointer as time expired in the third quarter to extend the lead that Greensboro had at the time.
The Pride led 14-12 after the first quarter, and then 31-29 at halftime. It remained a tight game into the second half, as Greensboro held a 4 point advantage going into the final period. The lead would get up to as many as 9 points in the fourth, but the Falcons battled back to within 4 points with 38 seconds left.
Tamera Hooker would put the game away with two free throws however, and the Pride earned their 3rd win of the season. Greensboro shot 46% from the floor and 10-11 from the free throw line. They held Pfeiffer to just 31% shooting and 6-22 from long range. Each team had 20 turnovers, and the Pride would outscore the Falcons in the paint 38-26.Â
Greensboro will host Salem College on Saturday, January 27th at 2:00 PM.
