Misenheimer, NC - Greensboro Men's Basketball (7-10, 3-3) took on Pfeiffer University (6-5, 3-2) on Saturday afternoon, as the Falcons defeated the Pride 74-56.
Isaiah Pruett and
Tim Boulware scored 15 points each, combining for 30 of the teams 56 points.
Greensboro got out to a 4-0 lead early on, but once Pfeiffer took the lead 7-5, they wouldn't relinquish the lead again the rest of the game. The first half stayed close, as the Pride were within 3 points of the Falcons with 3:40 left to play. Pfeiffer would go on a run late in the half to take a 36-28 lead going into halftime.
The teams battled back-and-forth again in half number two, but the Falcons maintained the lead and would pull away as the half went on. Greensboro's offense couldn't get enough going to hang with the shooting of Pfeiffer. The Falcons hit 8 three pointers compared to Greensboro's 1. Pfeiffer shot 41% (25-60) from the floor compared to the Pride shooting 37.5% (24-64).
Pfeiffer out-rebounded Greensboro 41-36. The Pride outscored the Falcons in the paint 34-30. One other factor that helped Pfeiffer was their bench, as they scored 28 points. Pfeiffer also had 23 fast break points compared to the Pride's 5.
Grant Thompson would score 11 points and have 4 rebounds on the contest.
Matthew Brown had 13 rebounds while scoring 6 points.Â
