Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro Men's Basketball team (6-8, 2-1) defeated Methodist University (3-10, 1-2) on Saturday 78-57. The win gives the Pride their 2nd USA South Conference win of the season.
Greensboro controlled the game throughout, as they led almost the entire way. The Pride led the Monarchs 41-33 at the half, and never let them get back into the game.
Griffin Powell and
Erik Alvey led the team in scoring with 13 points each.
Tim Boulware scored 12 points, while
Matthew Brown scored 11.
The Greensboro offense shot 62% from the floor and 6-9 from behind the arc. They had 38 points in the paint and 13 points off of 17 Monarchs turnovers. The Pride bench scored 33 points.
For Methodist, Brone Brinson scored a game high 20 points on 8-12 shooting. Malek Ngong scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Eight total players scored for Greensboro on the night. The Pride dominated the rebounding category, outrebounding the Monarchs 33-15. They also came up with 15 steals on the defensive end of the floor.
Greensboro will host NC Wesleyan on Sunday as they play the second game of a back-to-back. Tip of is set for approximately 3:00 PM inside Hanes Gymnasium.
