Raleigh, NC - The Greensboro College Men's Basketball team hit the road for a two game road trip on Saturday afternoon. Their first stop was at William Peace University in a rematch from a few weeks ago it was a game that would be important in the USA South tournament seeding. Unfortunately the Pride would come up up short against the Pacers, falling by a final score of 69-58.
The first half saw Greensboro jump out to a quick four-point lead after Junior
Cassius Gary (Gatesville, NC) put his team ahead, 9-5. However, William Peace would go on a run and eventually pull ahead by double-digits. A layup by
Tim Boulware (Greensboro, NC) cut the deficit to six points and that was followed by a Junior
Erik Alvey (Durham, NC) basket to trim the lead to 23-19. The Pacers took control again on the offensive side of the ball, but Junior
Matthew Brown (Orlando, FL) drove in for a layup to pull the Pride back to within four points. Unfortunately, they were unable to get any closer and as the teams headed to the locker room, Greensboro trailed 32-24.
As the second half began, William Peace increased their advantage back to double-digits, but layups from Brown and Boulware trimmed the lead down to six points. At the 15:12 mark of the half, Junior
Isaiah Pruett (Asheville, NC ) drained a three-pointer to help the Pride pull to within two points, 40-38 but 10 minutes later they would find themselves trailing again by 11 points. While Greensboro was able to convert a number of offensive opportunities, they could not cut into the lead and would ultimately fall to the Pacers, 69-58.
Brown led the Pride with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Boulware finished the game with 11 points. Greensboro will return to action on Tuesday, February 7th win they complete their two game road trip at Brevard College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
