Women's Basketball Defeated by Spalding 59-48

Decatur, GA - The Greensboro College Women's Basketball team fell in their second game of the Agnes Scott Classic to Spalding University 59-48. Despite a hot start from the Pride, the team faltered down the stretch to fall to 0-2 on the season.

Greensboro began the game on a 17-4 run led by Azuria Barrino and Nataya Atwater. The Pride held Spalding scoreless for a 5 minute stretch throughout the 1st quarter and would lead 20-8 at the end of the 1st period.

Greensboro would gain a 27-9 advantage after a Tamera Hooker three-pointer early in the 2nd quarter. The lead would get cut to 11 points after Spalding's Nicole Hollowell hit a three-pointer from long range. The lead would eventually evaporate to 31-29 with 30 seconds left in the first half, as the big lead Greensboro had built was gone.

Barrino would hit a layup with 3 seconds to play in the 2nd quarter, and the Pride would take a 4 point lead into halftime. Greensboro came out playing well in the 3rd period, extending the lead back to 8 points after a Barrino layup. Spalding would score just before the buzzer in the 3rd quarter to cut the Pride lead to 41-37.

The 4th quarter is where it all began to unravel for Greensboro as they could only score 7 points the entire period.
