Women's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season Play With 4-1 Victory

Greensboro, N.C. The Greensboro College women's soccer team ended the regular season with a 4-1 win at Salem College on Saturday afternoon, securing a home quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, October 31st. The Pride will face William Peace University at 6:30PM. 

In the first half the Pride came out strong, tallying 17 shots, however, the Salem defense held strong until midway through the half. Svea Eckstrand was able to break through the Salem defense and scored a brace from the right corner of the box to put the Pride up 1-0. In the 37th minute, Maci Hulver received a great touch from Ella Ramsey and slotted the ball into the near corner to put the Pride up 2-0.
 
The second half saw the Pride continue the offensive onslaught and in the 57th minute a brilliant individual effort and half volley by Amery Skinner put the Pride up 3-0. Salem would pull one back in the 69th minute as a deflected shot would find the back of the net to close the deficit to 3-1.

In the 75th minute, Eckstrand would cement the game for the Pride as her second goal of the day increasing the lead to 4-1. In all, the Pride would tally 24 second half shots and 41 for the game.

With the win, the Pride finish the regular season 9-5-4 and tied for 3rd in the USA South standings. The Pride secure the 4th seed for the USA South women's soccer tournament. The Pride will open the tournament on their home turf on Tuesday, October 31st against William Peace University. In the Pride's previous meeting with the Pacers, the Pride saw an intense back and forth match up which resulted in a 0-0 tie. Kick off Tuesday evening is slated for 6:30PM.
