The Greensboro College Pride took to the field Wednesday evening, with an impressive 4-1 win over the Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels.
The match started with a burst of energy from the Pride, as Skyler Molnar, was in sublime form. She broke the deadlock in the 10th minute with a clinical finish, putting the Pride ahead 1-0. Molnar wasn't done yet. In the 23rd minute, she found the back of the net once again, doubling her tally for the day. Svea Eckstrand provided the crucial assists for both of Molnar's goals.
Inspired by her earlier assists, Eckstrand found herself on the scoresheet in the 48th minute, extending the lead to 3-0. Molley Edwards contributed an assist to the goal, showcasing the depth of talent within the team. The Fighting Squirrels didn't give up easily, and they managed to pull one back in the 60th minute, however, the Greensboro remained composed and determined to maintain their lead.
The icing on the cake came in the 74th minute when Skylar Mathis scored the Pride's fourth goal, firmly putting the match out of reach for the Fighting Squirrels. Julia Howland provided the assist for Mathis' goal, rounding out a comprehensive team effort.
With this resounding victory, the Pride looks ahead to their next challenge against Salem College on October 28th in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, at 2:00 PM.
