Greensboro, N.C. - Greensboro College Men's Soccer would hit the highway as they traveled to Tennessee to face the Scots of Maryville College.
The Pride was looking to score goals, as except for the four-goal effort against Piedmont University on September 11th, Greensboro had not tallied 2 goals or more in any contest this season. Defense has been the Pride's calling card to this point and this Sunday afternoon's contest would turn out to be more of the same.
Both squads played the game evenly as the critical statistics show the competition as close throughout the day. Both teams registered 11 shots on goal, with the Pride having some excellent chances to score throughout the game. Both
Collin Thomas and
Juan Ramirez fired 3 shots on goal and Goalie
Lee Carrico kept the Scots off the scoreboard.
The defensive backline, anchored by
Parker Spesock and
Alexander Sargeant again would throw a shutout as the Pride and Maryville College would battle to 0-0 stalemate.
Greensboro College's Head Coach
Manbi Nyepon had these thoughts on the contest: "We were disappointed that we could not come home from Maryville with a win. We created plenty of chances again but could not find the back of the net. I felt like we were the best team today. There is a lot of soccer to be played and we plan on winning some of these matches."
The Greensboro College Men's Soccer team (1-5-3) will host the Carolina University Bruins at Pride Field on Wednesday, September 28th, at 5:00PM.
