Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Battles Crosstown Rival

Greensboro, N.C. - The Greensboro College Pride Men's Soccer team would make the short drive to Guilford College on Saturday night to battle the Quakers in a match that always has a little more meaning than almost all the others. Both teams would be looking for a jumpstart for their seasons as conference play starts soon and having a win against a gnarly neighbor could lend itself nicely as they build for the remainder of the season.

As their records would indicate, both teams came out rather evenly matched and would play toe-to-toe throughout. The final statistics would show both teams would almost mirror each other throughout as the shots on goal, saves, corner kicks, penalties, and eventually the goals scored would show the closeness of the contest.

Both goaltenders, the Quakers' Roman Robinson and the Pride's Lee Carico would stand guard in front of their net as neither would surrender a goal as the game would end in a 0-0 tie.

Greensboro College's Head Coach Manbi Nyepon had these observations about the game: "Anytime you play Guilford College there is going to be some extra incentive. We both are recruiting a lot of the same kids so going home with a victory is important in several ways. We played well and created a lot of scoring chances, but we could not find the back of the net. We are not happy with the result as I thought we should have won the game. But we pick up a point on the road. We have several days of practice before hitting the road next weekend and we will take that time to prepare and go compete in Tennessee against Maryville College."

The Pride's next game will be Sunday, September 25th at Maryville College (0-3-2) at 2:00PM.
