GREENSBORO, NC--Greensboro's men's lacrosse team defeated William Peace on Tuesday 14-10 to advance to the USA South Conference Tournament semi-finals.
Michael Meley scored an unassisted goal early for the Pride at the 12:41 mark of the 1st quarter to tie things up. Then Meley would assist Will Beyer to tie things up again at the 9:06 mark, which was the first of three straight for the Pride to take a 4-2 advantage.
Greensboro had a total of 10 players score, including two each from
Austin Abourjilie, Will Beyer,
Michael Meley, and
Chase Henderson, as they took a 9-6 halftime lead.
Things would remain tight in the second half, as a Pacers goal from Tristan Carter brought WPU to within two at 11-9 in the 4th quarter before
Chase Henderson and
Aaron Larios-Neubert delivered back-to-back goals for the Pride in the knockout blow.
Greensboro put 55 shots on goal, compared to just 38 for the Pacers, while Chris Stallings made seven key saves in net for the Pride.
Improving to 11-6 on the season, GC will now head to Southern Virginia to take on the top seeded Knights at 4pm on Friday.
