BUENA VISTA, VA--Greensboro's baseball team concluded a three game series at Southern Virginia with a pair of wins on Saturday.
Game one saw a 13-9 victory, fueled by
Josh Pittman's big day from the plate. Pittman went 5-6, including an RBI-single in the 2nd inning to put GC up for good at 3-2, then another RBI-single in the 9th to pad GC's lead at 13-7. Sam Hayen also punished the Knights, going 3-5 with a deep shot in the 9th to put Greensboro ahead 12-7.
Greensboro was able to lock-in from the plate, getting 19 hits as well as drawing three walks.
In game two, Pittman stayed hot, adding a 3-5 day with two more RBIs. His 2 RBI-single in the 2nd inning gave the Pride the lead at 3-2, and he batted in another run in the 4th inning to give GC a 4-3 lead. Alex Morales also hit a clutch RBI-single in the 6th inning to make it a 8-6 game. Cam Edmonds and
Devin Summers went back-to-back homers as well in the 6th, as part of the Pride's 11 hits for game two. Greensboro was able to withstand a late Knights rally and prevail 9-7 to complete the sweep.
GC now stands at 14-19, and will head to First National Bank Field in Greensboro to take on the Guilford Quakers at 6pm Wednesday.
