Pride Powers Past Pacers

RALEIGH, NC--Greensboro's baseball team evened up the series with a 11-5 win over William Peace on Saturday afternoon.

Alex Morales got the Pride scoring started on a 3rd inning sacrifice fly to put GC ahead 1-0, and the Pride would tack on another to take a 2-0 lead into the next frame.  The Pacers responded with a 2-RBI triple from Hunter Ward to tie the game, before Greensboro would break the game open with three runs on three hits and a Pacer error in the top of the 4th to take a 5-2 lead.

A leadoff single from Braxton Rupp followed by a pair of walks by Braxton King and Cam Edmonds set the table for the big inning.  After a sacrifice fly from Drake Carrick, Aaron Smith and Luke Pegram hit back-to-back RBI singles to complete the damage.

The top of the 5th inning saw the Pride capitalize on William Peace fielding errors to increase the lead.  Scoring three runs on just one hit and two Pacer errors increased Greensboro's lead to 8-3 going into the last few innings.

Aaron Smith and Luke Pegram were a consistent presence in the Pride lineup, each getting two hits apiece and combining for 4-9 with 3-RBI from the plate.

Pitcher Nick Stegura gave GC 4.0 solid innings from the mound before Mo Lopez, Dylan Ward, Cam Watts, and Alex Trepper all came on in relief to hold the lead and close out the win, moving the Pride to 7-14 on the season.

The Pride will take the diamond again tomorrow against the Pacers of William Peace at 1pm to finish off the series.
