HIGH POINT, NC--Greensboro and NC Wesleyan finished a three game series at Rockers Stadium in High Point, with NC Wesleyan coming away with a 3-2 victory, and taking two of three in the series. Greensboro was able to jump on top early after
Braxton Rupp brought in
Adam Weber in the 1st on a groundout to shortstop, then Rupp in his next at-bat hit his 3rd homerun of the season by tattooing the ball deep to left center to make it 2-0 Pride in the 3rd inning. However, the bats would go cold from there for GC, as they were unable to score again.
McKinnon Martinelli got the start from the bump for the Pride, and he cruised through the first seven innings, not allowing any runs, and stayed on the mound into the 9th.
The Pride held a 2-1 lead in the 9th, but NC Wesleyan's Zach Lyon hit a game- tying homerun, and the Bishops would tack on another run to flip the game to give NC Wesleyan a 3-2 lead going into the bottom half of the 9th. Cam Edmonds led off the inning with a double, but he would remain stranded as the Pride could not bring in the tying run, and the Bishops escaped with the 3-2 win.
Adam Weber got two of the Pride's six hits on the day, while Martinelli went 8.1 strong innings, allowing 3 earned runs in the loss.
Greensboro now stands at 11-18 and 6-9 in conference play and will host Roanoke for a Tuesday night game at Ted Leonard Park at 6pm.
