HIGH POINT, NC--The Greensboro College baseball team faced off against crosstown foes, Guilford College on Wednesday night at Rockers Stadium. Both teams went to lumber yard with the Quakers coming away with the 8-7 victory. Guilford scored its eight runs on 17 hits, while Greensboro scored seven runs on seven hits and nine walks.
Luke Pegram provided a spark from the top of the lineup, going 2-4 with 3 RBI, featuring a line-drive 2 RBI single up the middle in the 4th inning, and Alex Morales went 2-3 with 3 RBI, including a double deep to left center field that brought in two Pride runners and tied the ballgame in the 6th. Â
Ultimately, Guilford would pull ahead for good in the 7th, and Greensboro's attempts to tie the game were futile. With the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, Quaker closer Jackson Marcellus was able to finish off the game and secure the victory for Guilford with a 2-out strikeout.
Greensboro will travel to William Peace University on Friday, April 1 to start a three game series. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
