HIGH POINT, N.C.---
Cam Watts' two-out two-RBI single pulled Greensboro College ahead in the bottom of the seventh inning of Tuesday afternoon's baseball contest as the Pride claimed victory over the University of Lynchburg, 8-7, at Truist Point. The University of Lynchburg is ranked sixth in the D3baseball.com Top 25 Poll.
Greensboro overcame a 3-0 deficit, sparked by a deep homerun in the 2nd inning by
Braxton King. Cam Edmonds ignited a four run 6th inning with a 2-RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly from
Adam Weber and a
Josh Pittman RBI-single to give Greensboro a 5-4 lead.
Lynchburg battled back with three runs in the top of the 7th inning, but the Pride's
Cam Watts' two RBI- single in the bottom of the 7th put Greensboro ahead for good at 8-7. Â
Both teams went deep into their bullpens, as Greensboro used five pitchers to earn a hard-fought win.Â
Adam Blevins, Zach Crites,
Dylan Ward, and
Alex Trepper each pitched an inning, with
Dylan Ward getting the win, and Trepper closing the game out and getting a save.
Greensboro's big win moves the Pride to 5-6 on the season, and will next travel to Pfeiffer for a three game series this weekend after today's game against St. Anselm has been canceled due to forecasted weather.
