Pride Storms Back to defeat Southern Virginia

A packed crowd at Hanes Gym saw a comeback for the ages as the Pride defeated Southern Virginia 83-78 on Wednesday night (February 9).  Greensboro overcame a 50-37 halftime deficit behind Quadijah Moore, Ta'Keria Legette, and a 3-point basket by Karli Mason that put the Pride in front by one with 1:20 left in the 4th quarter.

Southern Virginia was able to pound inside in the first half, behind Katie Garrish and Savanna Christensen, who finished with 23 points each.  The second half saw Greensboro trim the lead to 10 going into the fourth quarter after a jumper by Ta'Keria Legette with :14 seconds left in the third period.

Despite trailing by 10 going into the final quarter, the Pride would not be denied, as they outscored SVU 25-10 in the final frame.  A Moore jumper saw Greensboro trim the lead down to six with 9:22 remaining after Quadijah Moore 's jumper, which was part of a career-high 29 points.

A layup by Legette brought Greensboro back to within two with 6:14 left in the game, and was part of an 8-2 Pride run to start the fourth quarter.  

Then down two at 78-76, Karli Mason drained a 3-pointer with 1:20 on the clock, which put Greensboro ahead for good.  Pride faithful stormed the court following the final buzzer as the scoreboard showed 83-78.

The win moves Greensboro to 23-1 on the season and avenges its only loss of the year.  Greensboro will attempt to win its 17th in a row as they travel to Meredith on Saturday, February 12th at 2:00 PM.
