Baseball opened the 2022 season with a sweep over Brevard College on Saturday afternoon (February 26). In game one, Greensboro's
Braxton Rupp got the Pride on the board with a 4th inning deep shot to tie the game at one. Then in the 5th,
Adam Weber drove in
Aaron Smith with an RBI Double to put Greensboro out in front.Â
Cam Watts also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to increase the margin to 3-1. A
Devin Summers' RBI Single in the 8th inning made the score 4-2, and the Pride would hold on in the 9th for a 4-3 victory to start the season as starting pitcher Jason Baldini gave GC six strong innings in the win.Â
Braxton Rupp went 3-3 and a walk to ignite the Pride offensively.
In game two, Alex Morales and then starting pitcher Cameron Edmunds both hit solo home runs in the 1st and 2nd innings as the Pride jumped out to a 9-0 lead by the 3rd inning after a 3-run homerun by
Braxton Rupp. Greensboro's bats stayed hot as
Devin Summers went 2-4 including an RBI single in the 4th inning. Greensboro got a good pitching effort from Cam Edmunds, going four innings pitched with three strikeouts. The game was scheduled for seven innings, and with the win, the Pride move to 2-0.
They will wrap up the series tomorrow at Truist Point Stadium at 2pm.
