Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Jennings' 33 points paces Pride to win over William Peace, 92-54

Greensboro. NC - Tuesday afternoon began a stretch of four games for the Greensboro College Women's Basketball team, which includes a trip down south to Puerto Rico.  However, today their focus was on fellow USA South conference foe William Peace University, as they welcomed them in to Hanes Gymnasium.  The Pride knew that in order to stay perfect in the conference, that would have to start the game fast and that is just what they did, coming away with the win, 92-54.

The first and second quarters saw Greensboro dominate both sides of the court.  Senior Ta'Keria Legette (Latta, SC) and Sophomore Audrey Jennings (Elkin, NC) came out of the gate firing on all cylinders to put the Pride up by 19 points., 25-6.  Jennings would continue to find the basket, converting three-pointers, along with a fast break layup.  With 6:17 remaining in the half, Sophomore Aijah Palmore (Greensboro, NC) began to establish herself in the paint, scoring two straight driving layups, while Sophomore Azuria Barrino (Charlotte, NC), would come off the bench and duplicate Palmore's effort, converting her own driving layup, sending Greensboro to the locker room with a 46-14 advantage.

Legette and Jennings began the second half, especially the third quarter, finding the basket at will.  With the Pride dominating on the defensive side of the ball, it allowed them  to get open looks, while also converting shots in transition.  However, the Pacers would begin to employ a full court press, which helped them cut into Greensboro's 36-point lead.  At the 4:35 mark of the third quarter, they had pulled to within 52-30, but that would be as close as they could get.  After a media timeout, Legette, Sophomore Lauren Livingston (Greenwood, SC) and Senior Karli Mason (Monroe, NC) got the Pride back on track.  They kept that momentum in the fourth quarter, and after a layup by Junior Quadijah Moore (Greenwood, SC), the Pride had their largest lead of the game, 88-40.  William Peace was unable to mount a comeback and after two free throws from Senior Egypt Alexander (Salisbury, NC) the game was sealed, moving Greensboro to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the USA South with the win over the Pacers, 92-54.

Jennings had her best game of the season, finishing with a season high 33 points, while having an almost perfect day at the free throw line, going 14-15.  Legette added 13 points, to go along with her game-high 11 rebounds, while Mason finished with 10 points and 7 assists.  Greensboro will take a break from conference play Thursday as they host ODAC member Ferrum College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm at Hanes Gymnasium.
