Greensboro, NC – In front of a crowd of over 400 fans in Hanes Gymnasium and behind 26 points from Junior
Isaiah Pruett (Asheville, NC), the Greensboro College Men's Basketball team opened its 2022-2023 season with a thrilling 82-77 win over a Hampden-Sydney College team, who was receiving votes for the NCAA DIII National Poll. In a non-conference match-up that saw a number of lead changes, the Pride put together a strong second half to kick off the season with the victory.
As the first half began, Greensboro jumped out to a 6-2 lead behind two straight three pointers from Junior
Tim Boulware (Greensboro, NC) and held the advantage up until the 8:35 mark of the half, when the Tigers converted a layup to grab a one-point lead. Pruett would convert his own layups putting the Pride back up by one-point two more times during the half. After falling behind again, free throws from Junior
Matthew Brown (Orlando, FL) kept the score close and as the half come to an end, Greensboro trailed the Tigers by a score of 32-28.

Kevon Wright (Greensboro, NC) combined for six quick points to start the second half, putting the Pride back out in front 34-22. H-SC would eventually grab the advantage for the next three minutes, but Sophomore
Grant Thompson (Graham, NC) tied the game with a basket down low in the paint. The Tigers answered, but after another Boulware three pointer, Greensboro would take the lead for good. Boulware continued to find the basket and Pruett finished it off from the free throw line to give the Pride the win, 82-77.
In addition to Pruett's game high 26 points, Boulware finished with 19 points (5-6 from the three point line) and Wright added 13 points. Brown led Greensboro with 11 total rebounds (all defensive), while Thompson pulled down 8, to go along with one block. As a team, the Pride scored 26 points off of turnovers and the bench contributed with a big scoring effort of 40 points. Greensboro will return to action Saturday, November 12
th, when they travel to Lynchburg, VA to face Randolph College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
