Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pride Falls In Exhibition To North Carolina A&T

Greensboro, NC – The Greensboro College Men's Basketball team took a break from their regular season action and traveled a few blocks down the road for an exhibition game against neighboring NCAA Division I and CAA Member North Carolina A&T.  While it would be a tremendous test for the Pride, it also allowed Greensboro an opportunity to gain valuable experience.

The Aggies took a quick 4-0 lead, but Junior Tim Boulware (Greensboro, NC) would get the Pride on the board after a driving layup trimming the advantage in half.  Junior Matthew Brown (Orlando, FL) tied things up at 4-4 after a fast break layup but A&T would, once again, grab a one-point lead.  At the 13:43 point of the half, Junior Isaiah Pruett (Asheville, NC) drained a two straight three-pointers to put the Pride out in front by four-points.  However, the Aggies fought back to tie the game and then eventually increase the lead to 26-15.  Another layup from Pruett pulled Greensboro to within nine points, but four straight free throws by the Aggies gave them their largest lead of the game, 30-17.  Pruett continued to find the basketball, however, the A&T offense came alive and as the teams headed to the locker room, the Pride trailed by a score of 45-24.

Boulware began the second half with a three-pointer for Greensboro, which got the lead to under 20-points.  Brown would keep it under 20 with a driving layup, but the Aggies were able to score on two straight possessions, pushing their lead up to 51-21.  Senior Kevon Wright (Greensboro, NC) got on the board with a layup off of a turnover and that was followed up by a free throw from Junior Mason Sergi (Ashburn, VA), cutting the A&T lead to 51-34.  After another Aggies basket, Junior Erik Alvey (Durham, NC) found the basket for the Pride to keep the lead under 20-points.  The lead eventually would go back up to 20, but Junior Rujon Walters (Kinston, NC) cut it back to 18 points, draining a jumper.  Unfortunately, Greensboro could not get close enough to make a last run and would fall to the Aggies in the exhibition 78-51.

Pruett led the Pride finishing the game with 13 points, going 3-5 from the three-point line, followed by Boulware who had 9 points.  In addition, Boulware and Wright each pulled down five rebounds on the afternoon.  Greensboro is back in regular season action next weekend when they travel to Rocky Mount, NC to participate in the Roger Taylor Invitational.  Stay tuned to www.greensborocollegesports.com for all game updates and recaps.
