Greensboro, N.C. - The Greensboro College Men's Soccer team had been enjoying a nice streak. The Pride had not been defeated in the last five contests, relying on Craig Thomas' goal scoring prowess and a stingy defense anchored by an experienced back line.
Unfortunately, for the first time in a long time, that successful formula was not on display as the visitors were ambushed 5-0 by a top tier William Peace University soccer squad on Saturday afternoon. At first glance, the boxscore would not suggest such a lopsided final. The Pride were outshot by only three, the corner kicks were even, as were the fouls. The Pride could simply not get their footing on this day as the Pacers would score a pair in the first half and tack on three in the second. The loss would drop the Pride ( 2-6-4 Overall- 0-1-1 Conference) to 5th place in the conference standings with five to play.
The Greensboro College Men's Soccer team will next play Mary Baldwin University on Wednesday, October 12th , at Pride Field at 4:00PM.
