The Greensboro College men's soccer team played in its final game at the Christopher Newport University Tournament against the University of Lynchburg. The Pride fell to the Hornets, 4-1.
Lynchburg (2-0) wasted little time as it scored the first goal in the second minute. The Hornets kept the pressure going as they scored two more goals (13th and 45th minutes) and led 3-0 at the break.
The second half was little quieter than the first until Lynchburg added another goal in 88th minutes.
Just over a minute later,
Jordy Briceno scored on a 20-yard free kick to get Greensboro (0-3) on the board. Lynchburg went on to win by the three-goal margin.
Greensboro was out shot by eight (11-3) while conceding nine corners compared to taking only three.
Elmer Martinez made seven saves in the loss.
The Pride makes the trip to Randolph College on Wednesday, September 8 to face the Wildcats. Start time is 4 p.m.
