The Greensboro College men's soccer team traveled to Newport News, Virginia to face Gettysburg College. The Pride fell to the Bullets, 6-2.
Gettysburg (1-0) wasted no time as it scored the opening goal in the fourth minute. Greensboro (0-2) responded in the 23rd minute when
Jordy Briceno found the back of the net.
Shelly Scott and
Alexander Sargeant picked up assists on the score.
The tied score was short lived when the Bullets added another goal just two minutes later. Gettysburg added another goal in the 41st minute as it held a 3-1 lead going into the locker room.
The second half was very similar to the first as the Bullets added two more goals in the 49th and the 62nd minutes.Â
The Pride added another goal in the 65th as
William Curry capitalized on a miscue by a defender.
Gettysburg scored its final goal of the afternoon to claim the four-goal victory.
Elmer Martinez played all 90 minutes in net, making eight saves in the loss.Â
Greensboro will wrap up its trip to the Christopher Newport Unviersity Tournament on Sunday, September 5 against the University of Lynchburg. First kick is set for 1 p.m.
