The Greensboro College women's soccer team traveled to Salem College for a battle within the Triad. The Pride fell to the Spirits, 1-0.
The first half was controlled by Greensboro (3-5-1, 1-1-0) as it held advantage in shots on goal (6-1) and corner kicks (4-0). Neither side were able to find the back of the net as they headed into halftime in a scoreless draw.
Two minutes into the second half, Salem (5-6-0, 1-1-0) scored off a free kick from the left side to take the lead.
The Pride tried to respond as they put eight shots on goal but ultimately fell by the slim margin.
Lindsay Fox started in net and played the full time. The Spirits' Jordan Tomberlin faced 14 shots and stopped all of them.
Greensboro returns to Pride Field as it welcomes Meredith College on Friday, October 1. Start time is 7:00 p.m.
