The Greensboro College men's soccer team welcomed Carolina University to Pride Field as the Pride were victorious in overtime, 3-2.
In the sixth minute,
William Curry gave Greensboro (4-6) the early advantage as he buried a pass from
Darli Mihindou.Â
The Pride held the lead until the 34th minute when Carolina (4-4) evened the game at one.
Coming in off the bench,
Merced Mendez Flores used his time to give GC a 2-1 lead. A ball from
Jordy Briceno led Flores into the box as he capitalized.
Little over two minutes later, the Bruins answered to tie the score once more. The score remained square at two through halftime and the entirety of the second half.
Greensboro began overtime with the ball and never looked back. After taking the ball into the offensive zone, Curry crossed the ball to the right side of the box.Â
Shelly Scott headed the ball to the center where Mihindou used his right foot to bury the shot in the top of the goal give the Pride the one-goal victory.
The Pride hosts William Peace University on Saturday, October 2 in a USA South matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
