The Greensboro College football team opened play at Pride Field as Averett University came in for a USA South conference game. The Pride fell to the Cougars, 48-2.

Averett's Bryce Jackson and Jarrod Mosby were difficult to stop. The duo connected for three touchdowns totaling 153 yards over those plays.

Jackson went 15-22 from the pocket for 309 yards and five touchdowns. All three of Mosby's catches were the scoring plays.

The Cougars (2-1, 1-0) scored 43 seconds into the game as Greensboro fumbled on its opening play of offense.

Averett twice more in the first quarter before the Pride (0-2, 0-1) got on the board. The Cougars had a fourth and 18 from their 20 when the snap went over the punter's head into the endzone. Averett fell on the ball for the safety.

In the second quarter, the visitors added three more touchdowns including a 65-yard pass from Jackson to Chase Nixon to lead 42-2 going into halftime.

The third and fourth quarters were evenly matched between the two squads. The Cougars' Will Caviness made field goals of 25 and 46 yards to seal the 46-point win.
