The Greensboro College men's soccer team welcomed Ferrum College to open the home portion of the 2021 season. The Pride topped the Panthers, 3-1.
William Curry got Greensboro (2-5) on the board in the 19th minute.
Jordy Briceno found Curry to break the scoreless tie. The Pride held the 1-0 lead going into the break.
In the second half, Curry scored his second of the game and fifth of the season to double the advantage.
Ferrum (0-6) cut the deficit to one (2-1) in the 63rd minute but Briceno had other plans.
Briceno found himself open infront of the net after a pass from
Darli Mihindou to regain the two-goal advantage. Greensboro held on for the 3-1 win.
Elmer Martinez started in net and made three saves in 70 minutes of action. The Pride outshot the Panthers 6-3 and had the advantage in corner kicks, 4-3.
Greensboro returns to Pride Field on Friday, September 17 to host crosstown rivals, Guilford Quakers. Start time is 7:00 p.m.
