The Greensboro College men's soccer team concluded its trip to Virginia Wesleyan. The Pride fell in overtime to the Marlins, 2-1.
To start the first half, both teams had chances but it took till the 18th minute. Virginia Wesleyan's Michael Nocera found the back of the net to grab the 1-0 lead.
The score remained that way as the halftime horn sounded.
The second half was similar to the first with both sides having equal chances. In the 62nd minute,
Connor Spesock evened the game off an assist from
Jordy Briceno.
Neither team was able to break the tie as the game headed to overtime.
In overtime, the Marlins wasted no time as they scored the wining goal in 93rd minute to win the game, 2-1.
Elmer Martinez started in net and played the first 51 minutes and made three saves.
Cristian Del Cid Portillo subbed in to play the final 42 minutes and made four saves.
The Pride (1-5) opens the 2021 home schedule on Wednesday, September 15 against Ferrum College. Start time is 7:00 p.m.
