The Greensboro College men's soccer team traveled to Roanoke College to kickoff the 2021 season. A first half goal proved the difference as the Pride fell to the Maroons, 1-0.

Greensboro (0-1) recorded the first shot on goal from Shelly Scott but the Roanoke (1-0) goalie made the save. The Maroons first shot on goal found the twine to take a 1-0 edge.

The Pride added another shot on goal but the deficit remained 1-0 at the break.

The second half was closely contested between both squads. Unfortunately for Greensboro, it was unable to get a shot past the Maroons tender as the hosts held on for the 1-0 win.

Elmer Martinez made two saves in the loss for Greensboro. Roanoke goalie, Zach Behe made three saves in the win.

The Pride travel to Newport News, Virginia for the Christopher Newport University Tournament on Saturday, September 4. Greensboro will face Gettysburg College at 1 p.m.
