Pfeiffer Takes Game Three from the Pride

GREENSBORO, N.C.---Pfeiffer University's Austin Morton and Seth Grice collected three RBI a piece as Greensboro College dropped a Sunday afternoon USA South Athletic Conference (USA South) contest to Pfeiffer, 12-3.

Pfeiffer posted six runs in the top of the second inning with five of the six RBI coming from Grice and Morton.

The Pride countered in the bottom of the third inning with a three-run rally to get back into the game. Brayden King led off the inning with a triple to start the comeback bid. Michael Garvey Jr. = walked to follow the King at-bat and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. With one out, Cameron Peters brought King home on a sacrifice fly. Adam Weber added to the rally with a RBI-double to right field on his first at-bat of the game. Scotty McGuire capped the rally with a two-out RBI single as the Pride clawed back.

Pfeiffer posted a three-run rally in the top of the sixth frame as the Falcons secured two of their three runs with one-out in the inning. Pfeiffer posted a run in each of the eighth and ninth innings as the Falcons secured the win.

Garvey (two-for-three) and McGuire (two-for-five) were the Pride's two batters with multiple hits on the afternoon.

Morton led Pfeiffer with a four-for-six effort with a home run and three RBI. Bryan Kowalski finished three-for-five with a triple.

Cole Cooper (1-2) took the loss for the Pride in a two-inning start where he struck out one batter.

Nathan Ray (2-1) claimed the win for Pfeiffer in a five-inning start where he struck out four and walked three.

The Pride return to action Wednesday for a 2 p.m. USA South doubleheader with Mary Baldwin University.
