The Greensboro College women's basketball team faced the Owls of Warren Wilson College on Tuesday, November 16. The Pride doubled the Owls in the second half to win, 86-47.
Greensboro (3-0) scored the opening basket and eventually jumped out to a 10-4 lead after back-to-back threes by
Karli Mason. Warren Wilson (1-2) cut the deficit to four but a 10-2 run by the Pride gave them a 20-8 lead.
GC slowly grew its lead to 14 (26-12) after a layup from
Briana Milton. The Owls tried to chip away at the lead but the Pride held on for a 32-21 advantage at the half.
In the second half, the two squads went back-and-forth with makes until Greensboro went on a 13-0 run to lead 51-27 with 3:16 to go in the third.
Three-pointers from Mason and
Lauren Livingston extended the advantage to 31 (61-30).
The fourth was similar to the third as the Pride slowly grew its lead to win by the 39-point margin.
Mason led all scorers with 21 points as she made seven three-pointers, tied for second all-time for three-point field goals made in a single game. Livingston and Milton each added 18 points as Livingston also grabbed six rebounds.
GC were 59.3-percent from the field and 41.7-percent from long range. The Pride scored 33 points off turnovers and 32 points in the paint.
Greensboro faces crosstown rival Guilford College on Saturday, November 20 at Guilford. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
