The Greensboro College men' soccer team faced Mary Baldwin University in a Wednesday matinee. Behind two
William Curry goals, the Pride topped the Fighting Squirrels, 3-1.
Greensboro (8-7-1, 4-1-1) opened the scoring in the fifth minute as
Merced Mendez Flores scored off a pass from
Jordy Briceno.
Over two and a half minutes later, Curry scored his 11th of the season to double the Pride's lead.
In the 19th minute, Mary Baldwin (4-10-1, 1-5-0) cut the deficit in half with a goal from Dominic Fleming. The score remained 2-1 at the half.
The Pride regained the two-goal advantage as Curry netted his second goal of the contest as Briceno picked up another assist.
Cristian Del Cid Portillo made two saves late in the second half to preserve the victory.
Del Cid Portillo made seven saves in the win. The Fighting Squirrels had eight shots on goal compared to five for GC.
Greensboro concludes the 2021 regular season on Saturday, October 23 against Averett University. Start time is 4:00 p.m.
