Greensboro and Methodist Tie After Double Overtime

The Greensboro College men's soccer team faced Methodist University on the road after their game was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday evening. After 110 minutes of action, the Pride and the Monarchs were tied, 2-2.

Greensboro (6-6-1, 2-0-1) opened the scoring just a little over three minutes into the game. William Curry scored his 10th goal off a pass from Darli Mihindou to take a 1-0 lead.

The Pride held that lead until the 33rd minute when Methodist (2-7-2, 0-2-1) found the back off the net. The game was tied at one through halftime.

In the second half, Mihindou put his name on the score sheet once again just 54 seconds into the half. GC was in the lead, 2-1.

The Monarchs did not go away as they evened the game once more in the 74th minute. Neither side was able to score as the game headed to overtime.

Both teams were held without a shot in the first period of ten minutes. In the second overtime, Methodist placed two shots on goal but Cristian Del Cid Portillo stood tall in net as the final horn sounded.

The game was very even between both sides. Both teams had six shots on goal, four saves as the Pride had four corner kicks compared to three for the Monarchs.

Greensboro welcomes Southern Virginia to Pride Field on Wednesday, October 13. First kick is set for 7:00 p.m.
